졸업생 스포트라이트: 이 은희 (Alumni Spotlight: Eunhee Lee)
이 은희님은 2014년 센트럴 졸업생의 추천과 더불어 신학 공부에 대한 열정으로 센트럴에 지원하였습니다. 또한, 센트럴의 온라인을 통한 뛰어난 교육도 중요한 지원 계기가 되었다고 합니다. 이 은희님은 2020 겨울 신학석사과정을 마치고 현재 어스틴한인장로교회에서 어린이 사역을 맡고 계십니다.
다른 학생들과 마찬가지로, 이 은희님도 팬데믹 기간동안 많은 어려움을 겪어야 했습니다. 센트럴 학생들은 경제적인 어려움, 건강상의 염려, 이에 더하여 이처럼 힘든 시간 동안 졸업을 해내야 한다는 부담을 경험했습니다. 이 은희님은 “저는 최선을 다해 학업에 참여할 수 있게 해주신 주님의 은혜로 말미암아 학업의 여정을 마치게 되어 감사하다” 고 말씀을 전했습니다. 센트럴에서의 학업을 마칠 즈음에 팬데믹으로 인해 어려움에 처한 독고노인들을 찾아가 도우라는 새로운 비전과 부르심을 주님으로 받았습니다. 이 은희님의 이러한 사역으로의 부르심은 힘든 상황에 처해 있는 이들을 찾아가 위로하고 돌보고자 하는 갈망에 대한 응답 이기도 합니다. 이 은희님은 현재 이 부르심을 현실화 하기 위하여 기도하며 준비하고 있습니다.
이 은희님은 센트럴에서의 신학석사과정을 통해 이제 시작하려고 하는 사역에 앞서 교회 가운데 선교가 중심이 되는 사역의 중요성에 대한 관점의 변화가 일어났음을 인정하였습니다. “저는 교회가 건강한 공동체로 자라기 위해 반드시 선교가 교회의 목적과 목표가 되어야 한다고 믿습니다.” 라는 말을 남겼습니다.
이 은희님은 주님이 주신 은사들 로 인해 이 은희님이 몸담고 있는 교회 공동체의 축복입니다. 그리고 지금 위로와 돌봄 이라는 부르심에 응답하며 열심히 달려가고 있습니다. 센트럴 신학교는 졸업생의 추천으로 시작되어 새로운 사역으로 나아가는 이 은희님의 여정 가운데 함께 할 수 있었음을 자랑스럽게 생각합니다. 센트럴의 졸업생으로서 이 은희님은 센트럴 최고의 추천서입니다. 당신의 삶 가운데 사역으로의 부르심을 고려하고 있는 누군가가 있다면, 센트럴을 추천해 주시길 부탁드립니다!
In 2014, Eunhee Lee applied to Central Seminary because of recommendations from Central alumni and a desire to pursue theological studies. She was, also, drawn to Central because of its excellence in online theological education and formation. Eunhee completed the Master of Divinity degree in December 2020 and currently serves in children’s ministry at Austin Korean Presbyterian Church.
Like many, Eunhee struggled during the pandemic. Central students experienced financial hardships, health concerns, and the added burden of trying to complete graduate studies during such a challenging time. Eunhee says she is “grateful to God for being able to participate in my studies with my best efforts and for completing my studies by the grace of God.” Near the end of her Central journey, in the midst of a global pandemic, Eunhee received a new vision and calling from God “to visit and help the lonely and elderly who are struggling due to the pandemic.” Eunhee’s vision for ministry is embedded in a desire to provide comfort and care for those facing difficult circumstances. She is currently praying and preparing to put this new vision and calling into action.
Eunhee credits her theological training at Central for her changed perspective on the importance of missional-centered ministries in the church, such as the ministry she is now preparing to begin. “I believe that in order for the church to grow into a healthy community, it must have missions as a purpose and a goal,” she says.
Eunhee is blessing her congregation and community with her gifts for ministry and following her calling to build new ministries of comfort and care. Central Seminary is proud to have been part of her journey of calling and ministerial formation, a journey that began because of recommendations from Central alumni.
