New Library Director Appointed

Central Seminary is pleased to announce that Carolyn Johnson has joined our staff as Library Director.

Carolyn brings a wealth of library experience, having served for thirty-three years as Reference Librarian and Collection Development Liaison at B. D. Owens Library at Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri. In that role, she offered references services, answering research and citation questions related to all academic disciplines and providing these services in-person and via phone, email, and chat service. Carolyn also offered information literacy instruction in more than twenty areas of study and authored numerous excellent LibGuides to resource students in their research process.

In her new role at Central, Carolyn will support students and faculty in their research, manage the seminary’s physical and digital collections, organize institutional archives, and serve as our representative in a consortium of theological school libraries.

A graduate of Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in Madison, Wisconsin, Carolyn earned a B.A. in English Literature and an M.A. in Library and Information Studies.

President Pam Durso said, “It is a pleasure to welcome Carolyn to our Central community. She brings significant library leadership experience and great energy and enthusiasm for resourcing students and faculty. Carolyn has the perfect blend of skills, organizational leadership, and passion for working with students and faculty needed for Central to thrive.”

Carolyn’s first day of service at Central was October 9, 2023.
