Central Students Hold Virtual Spiritual Formation Retreat
On April 23-24, Central students gathered for a student-organized virtual spiritual formation retreat. M.Div. student, C.J. Duffie envisioned and organized the gathering under the theme of Engaging the Spirit: Preparing to Lead in Troubled Times. “The decision to organize the retreat was birthed out of a deep longing for community. Seminary is one of the few places where you cannot learn alone. The beauty of our faith is that we do not journey alone, we have the Spirit and each other. As such, I desired to create an intentional space where we could discern together beyond the classroom and lean into the identity, vocation, and witness of the Central student community,” said Duffie. The retreat featured preaching and workshops from Rev. Dr. Delesslyn Kennebrew, Regional Minister for the Kansas City Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and workshops from Central staff, Rev. Nathan Huguley and Rev. Jessica Williams. Huguley, who serves as Student Success Advisor, commented, “The students expressed gratitude for the experience overall and the presenters in particular. We all walked away with a new appreciation for identity, vocation, and witness as well as new friendships that will be beneficial for peer support and networking in the future.” Plans are already underway to continue to such nurture spaces and opportunities of connection and formation for a diverse and global student body.
센트럴 학생들이 비대면 영성 수양회를 가졌습니다.
지난 4월 23-24일, 센트럴 학생들은 학생들이 주축이 되어 구성된 영성 수양회로 모였습니다. 목회신학석사과정에 재학중인 씨.제이.더피학생은 ‘어려운 시기 가운데 성령님께 초첨맞춤으로 이끌어 나갈 준비 하기’ 라는 주제로 이 모임을 꿈꾸고 조직하였다고 합니다. 더피는 ‘공동체를 향한 깊은 갈망이 이 수양회를 조직하고자 하는 결정을 가능하게 하였습니다. 신학교는 혼자의 힘만으로는 배움을 이어나갈 수 없는 곳 중의 하나입니다. 우리의 믿음가운데 아름다운것은 우리의 신앙의 여정이 혼자가 아니며 성령님과 학우들이 있다는 바로 그 사실입니다. 저는 우리가 서로를 인지할 수 있는 강의실 그 이상의 장소를 만들기 원했고, 그곳에서 센트럴 공동체로서 우리들의 정체성, 직업성, 증인으로서의 삶을 서로에게 기대며 찾게 되길 고대합니다. ‘ 라고 밝혔습니다. 이번 수양회는 특별히 캔자스시티 지역교회(예수제자교회)의 사역자이신 델레슬린 케네브루 박사님이 설교해 주셨고센트럴의 교직원인 네이쓴 휴글리 목사님과 제시카 윌리암스 목사님이 워크샵을 인도해 주셨습니다. 학생지원처 고문으로 일하고 있는 휴글리는 ‘학생들, 특히 발표자들이 이 수양회에 대한 감사를 표현해 왔습니다. 우리는 모두 우리의 정체성과 직업, 그리고 예수님의 증인으로 사는 삶에 대한 새로운 감사뿐만 아니라, 미래의 네트워킹과 동료간의 지원에도 도움이 되는 새로운 우정을 다지며 수양회를 마쳤습니다.’라는 말을 남겼습니다. 센트럴은 다양하고도 국제적인 학생들이 서로 모여 양육하고 이들을 서로 연결할 수 있는 공간과 기회를 계속 가질 계획을 세우는 중입니다.
