Central Seminary Announces Brad Darnell as Vice President for Finance and Administration

Central Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of Brad Darnell as Vice President for Finance and Administration, effective June 15.

Darnell brings more than 28 years of executive leadership experience in financial management, organizational operations, and strategic planning across complex, multi-site organizations.

Most recently, Darnell served as Market President for First Citizens Bank in Kansas City, where he oversaw financial and operational performance across a multi-state region. Prior to that role, he held several senior leadership positions with U.S. Bank, directing multi-market operations, leading cross-functional teams across multiple states, and delivering sustained financial growth. Throughout his career, Darnell has earned a reputation for building high-performing teams, strengthening organizational accountability, and fostering healthy workplace cultures.

“Brad brings a unique combination of financial expertise, strategic leadership, and a deep commitment to serving others,” said President Pam Durso. “His extensive experience leading complex organizations, coupled with his strong values and collaborative approach, make him exceptionally well-suited for this role. We are excited to welcome Brad to the Central community and look forward to the contributions he will make as we advance our mission of preparing leaders for service and expanding access to affordable, high-quality theological education for all who are called to ministry.”

Darnell earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Economics from Truman State University. He has also completed executive education programs through the Center for Creative Leadership, Columbia Business School, and the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington.

A resident of the Kansas City area, Darnell is actively engaged in community and civic leadership. He is a member of Platte Woods United Methodist Church and is currently involved in the church’s efforts to launch a new congregation(Riverside United) in Riverside, Missouri.

As Vice President for Finance and Administration, Darnell will provide strategic oversight of the seminary’s financial operations and administrative functions, helping ensure the institution’s long-term sustainability and continued growth.
