Mooyoung Lim, Ph.D
Dr. Mooyoung Lim joined the faculty of Central Baptist Theological Seminary in the fall of 2011 as an adjunctive professor. He also served as a vice president of Korean American Diaspora in North America.
Prior to the Central faculty, Dr. Lim taught serval mission-centered subjects in Chicago, IL and in Central, he taught Constructive Theology (I, II), Christian Heritage I, Cross Cultural Ministries, Missional Church (D. Min) for 3 years. He also is teaching two student on the Project Dissertation track.
Regarding Dr. Lim’s academic background, originally from South Korea, Dr. Lim received a M. Div from Seoul Theological University and Graduate School in 2004. After serving local churches for 9 years in Sungnam City, Korea, he earned a Master of Theology in practical theology in Preaching from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and Graduate School, Lynchburg, VA in 2007. In 2011, he graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, IN with a Ph. D in Missiology.
Dr. Lim’s current interests include a wide range of areas from missional church, missional leadership and relationship between local church and mission, culture and gospel, reading the Scripture in the perspective of mission, and so on. He has published several articles about mission and leadership, history of mission. In fall of 2012, he published the article as a title “Preaching and Culture: A Phenomenological Study of Korean American Immigrant Church Pastors’ Communication Skills in a Changing World” in Trinity Journal and also published two articles “Good Leadership to Great Leadership: A Reflection of Leadership of Missional Ecclesiology” in 2012 and “The History of Protestant Mission in China 1900-1999” in 2013 in The Journal of Korean Evangelical Missiological Society
Dr. Lim was ordained in 2006 and has served local churched in Korean and in the US for more than 13 years. He is married to Hayoung Chung and have two children, Olivia and Jonathan. The family attends Hanme Presbyterian Church, Itasca, IL and Dr. Lm has been serving as an associate pastor in the church. He like to play tennis and love to trip with family.
