Online Master of Divinity Degree Program

Central’s Master of Divinity degree prepares leaders for seeking God, shaping church, and serving humanity and all creation

Central’s innovative online Master of Divinity degree program is uniquely designed to help you craft a ministry that is tuned to your vocational or entrepreneurial goals, either as full-time clergy or in your chosen profession or walk in life. It will equip you with a new, empowering vision of ministry so that you can become a transformative agent in the emerging global Christian community. Students in the Master of Divinity online program will encounter a diverse community of learners, enriching online discussions, and content that challenges persons to think more deeply about their faith.

Central’s online Master of Divinity Degree Program is:

AFFORDABLE - reasonable tuition rates and scholarship assistance

ACCESSIBLE - participate anywhere you can be online

ACCREDITED - recognized by two national accrediting bodies

MDiv students prepare for jobs as Chaplains, Non-profits leaders, and Ministers. The degree is generally the preferred educational credential for chaplaincy certification, required by most branches of the military to service as a chaplain, and necessary for ordination in many church denominations.

Central’s online MDiv weaves the signature theological “pillars” of formation, interpretation, contextualization and performance with “threads” of learning to bring contemporary relevance to every course. “Threads” include subjects like racial diversity, cross cultural understanding, social justice, environmental theology, sexual identity, religious pluralism, creative expression and more. At Central we value:

  • Disciplined Learning: We believe that cultivation of learning skills, the gaining and sharing of knowledge, and practical application are foundational to all that we do.
  • Community: We foster a communal process of learning, worship and service.
  • Diversity: We respect the richness of diversity as we engage voices of different ages, races, ethnicities, genders and faith traditions in a welcoming and open environment.
  • Justice: We model justice and stewardship in fulfillment of our Mission, forming students to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God.
  • Heritage: We value our place in the history of the universal church, our Trinitarian theology and our historic roots as a Christ-centered Baptist institution.
  • Creativity: We participate with the Spirit in generative and innovative methods.

Central’s vision is to be a leading seminary offering innovative theological education and effective ministry formation in a global context. We have a long history and yet find ourselves moving in many new and exciting ways as the Spirit continually leads us into the future. With over 400 students in a variety of educational programs, Central is exploring new ways to prepare those God is calling to special service in our world today.
