Central Seminary hosted several events for our Presidential Inauguration Week the first week of January 2021. The inauguration service for The Rev. Dr. Pamela R. Durso as president of Central Baptist Theological Seminary was held on Thursday, January 7, at 7:00 p.m. Due to continued pandemic concerns, the service was a virtual event. The Rev. Courtney Allen Crump, Pastor, Grace Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia, delivered the inaugural address.
In addition to the inauguration service, two earlier events completed the celebrations. On Tuesday, January 5, Dr. Frank Yamada, Executive Director of the Association of Theological Schools, was the featured speaker for a lecture entitled “To What Are We Called? The Futures of Ministry and Theological Education.” The following afternoon, January 6, the seminary held a panel discussion on “Ministry and Faith Leadership in an Everchanging Religious Landscape.” Panelists included Dr. Ryan K. Bolger, Fuller Theological Seminary Associate Professor of Church in Contemporary Culture; The Rev. Dr. Cherise L. Gillette, President of Lexington Theological Seminary; and Dr. Nora O. Lozano, Baptist University of the Americas Associate Professor of Theological Studies and Director of Latina Leadership Institute. President Durso moderated the discussion.
