SUMMARY:“Rooted: Experiencing the Strength of Contemplative Leadership” - A Central Seminary Leadership Series
DESCRIPTION:\nQuestion: How’s your life and leadership going as measured against Jesus’ promise of an abundant life?\nIf your answer is\, “Could be better\,” consider the following good news. There is a way\, deeply rooted in the life of God\, that feeds vitality rather than exhaustion and fruitfulness rather than frustration. We can unlearn patterns that hamstring us and cultivate practices that facilitate God’s flourishing in our personal lives\, our congregations\, and the cultures to which we are called. \nOn Saturday\, April 27\, on the campus of Central Baptist Theological Seminary\, we will give concentrated attention to this better way in a one-day conference\, “Rooted: Experiencing the Strength of Contemplative Leadership.” The event will have particular value for congregational leaders\, both professional and volunteer; those involved in ministries with adults\, youth\, and children; seminarians; and anyone interested in the contemplative life and/or spiritual direction. \nIntended as a day of refreshment as well as learning\, the schedule has been designed to facilitate both. \n* Dr. Doug Hardy\, professor of spirituality at Nazarene Theological Seminary\, Kansas City\, MO\, and our keynote speaker for the day\, will get things started with an address entitled\, “Learn to Rest\, Take a Journey\, Find a Guide.” \n* Event participants will have two breakout opportunities and can choose between four breakout topics: \n\n“Creating a Contemplative Congregational Culture”\n“Contemplative Youth Ministry”\n “The Contemplative Life and Social Justice”\n“Contemplative Leadership and Self-Care”\n\n* Time\, space\, and resources will be provided for informal group gatherings and solitude\, prayer\, and reflection. \n* The day will conclude with a plenary session that brings together the threads of the day\, facilitating a final discussion among conference leaders and conference participants. \n* Lunch is provided as part of the registration fee: $30/person; $20/person for groups of 3 or more from the same organization; $10 for Central students. REGISTER HERE \nThe push-pulls of life and leadership all too easily derail the richer possibilities of discipleship and missional influence. There is a better way…in the real world. Make plans now to participate in this day of discovery and renewal. \n
