Congrats to two students and an organization worth knowing

Recent student news
Please join me in congratulating two master of divinity students as they will soon begin new ministry positions. Ethan Bunce has accepted a position as Camp Pastor with Passport Camps for the summer and Dionne Boyice has accepted a part time position as Chaplain at Kingswood Senior Living in Kansas City. Both of these students would appreciate your prayers as they continue to discern how to craft a future with God through service to others.

Organizations in the community worth knowing
Metro Organization for Racial and Economic Equity, MORE2 (pronounced “MORE-SQUARED”) is an interfaith organization that was created in 2004. MORE2 is comprised of 27 member congregations from the Kansas City metropolitan area. Through MORE2 these congregations work together to create equitable opportunities for people of all races and economic means, primarily through pursuing public policy or systemic change.

Recently, MORE2 has been engaged in a series called Honest Conversations on Race. They held a kick-off event in November, discussing the execution and impact of structural racism. Congregations were encouraged to host Honest Conversation sessions in inside their buildings. More than twenty congregations representing over 600 people held these sessions, allowing their members time to explore concepts like white privilege, internalized oppression, and systemic racism.

On February 29th, the Honest Conversations on Race: Leap into Action, engaged those participants in opportunities to participate in sessions where they discussed the impact of racism on Education, Criminal Justice, Workforce, Immigration and Health. Participants committed to taking action to realize a change in the issue area of their choice. Information about this, and other MORE2 events can be found at:

MORE2 is seeking interns and community organizers. For more information on how you can become a partner or participate in MORE2 events, please contact Lora McDonald, Executive Director, at or (816) 277-5912.
