What is peace? by Jose Marti

What is peace?

The word eludes the most wise
It seems that it is so easily defined
but yet not so easily to understand
What is peace

Still we hope for it
still we pray for it
still we strive for it
but none of us knows peace.
What is peace

Is peace stillness like meditation
Is peace an absence of conflict
Is peace ignorant bliss
or is peace an illusion
What is Peace

Maybe peace is the eye of the storm
Perhaps peace is the quiet after the storm
or peace may be the calm before the storm
What is peace

Without chaos we cannot know peace
without chaos we cannot know the value of a child’s laugh
without hurricanes we cannot know the value of gentle touch of a cool breeze
What is peace

peace
the word escapes us
peace
the word must hate us
peace

My Experience:

Paw Lu

I belong to the Kachin ethnic group in Myanmar. I am now serving as an associate minister at a Baptist church in Kachin State, which is in the northern part of Myanmar.  We have over 7000 church members at my church.

I have been in ministry for over 17 years. I know that in order to lead my congregation effectively, I need more education. I believe that this D.Min. program will enhance my ministry today and into the future.

Learning together with other students from Myanmar has been very valuable for me. I have enjoyed living together. I have also learned from the Shawnee D.Min. students as well.  It is good to be able to appreciate each other’s cultures and ministry experiences.
