Dr. John Douglas Green, faithful husband of
Dr. Molly T. Marshall, President of Central Baptist Theological Seminary, passed away peacefully at home late Pentecost Sunday. He departed with the Spirit to make his home with God, joined to the eternal Body of Christ.
Dr. Green attended Baylor Medical College and graduated in 1952. For the next 46 years he practiced in Cushing, OK, and Louisville, KY. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II for three years, 1943-1946, earning Four Bronze Stars and the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon. Douglas was a contented resident of Shawnee, Kansas, where in retirement he enjoyed sitting on his deck, grilling for his wife and friends, and sharing life with a theologically attentive schnauzer, Wilfred. Douglas was a member of Prairie Baptist Church.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at 1:00 p.m. and funeral service at 2:30 on Friday, May 28, at Prairie Baptist Church, 7416 Roe Avenue, Prairie Village, KS 66208. A reception will follow. The seminary will be closed Friday afternoon to honor his memory and to allow the Central family to attend the service.
In this season of Pentecost in the Christian year, the people of God will celebrate resurrection hope in the power of the Spirit.
At President Marshall’s and Dr. Green’s request – if you choose to offer a memorial, please send it to Central Baptist Theological Seminary, 6601 Monticello Road, Shawnee, KS 66226-3513.
