One Thing
For the final worship at Central’s recent Conference on the Church in a Virtual Age, participants were given an opportunity to make a commitment to do One Thing as a result of what they learned at the conference. Here are the commitments that were collected during the worship:
Encourage a virtual creation of the congregation I serve via participation, sharing and collaboration
I will now engage people in creation of digital art (original art used in worship expressions).
Encourage openness between generations. What is church? How can we all participate? How can we manage the input around us, share it?
I may start a facebook account.

Intentional sharing on social media about our church's "gold" ministry through pictures, blogs, facebook, and twitter.
Wiki-input on important topics.
In general be more adventurous, willing to take risks, make mistakes and applying resources for and becoming explorers.
Work to be more attentive to others through starting a facebook account and encouraging more participation in church faith conversations through this means.
Seek to foster and receptivity to participating creatively in communal worship and individual discipleship.
Our church just began an information page on a local FYI web service. I will be more intentional about having current content on the page.
To find w

ays to include in worship what people in my church are passionate about.
I am going to find a way to connect my technology with our youth so that we are more intergenerational.
Invite non-staff, non-leaders to offer their insights and creativity on my sermon/talk/teaching ideas and the worship moments so that their passions/ideas have an outlet.
Help update our worship experience. Do more to invite interaction. Interested in more technology how-to!
Merge visuals into worship
Ask for/lead in instituting a worship planning retreat for all worship leaders -- pastor, song leaders, tech team -- so that we can be more purposeful in what happens during worship.
Find creative ways to engage and involve folks in worship planning and participation.
Everyone plan worship. Wiki the youth, let the youth define our church and themselves in the process. Shake worship.
Make our website more participatory.
Learn to use the different technologies -- facebook, etc. and get more people involved in our ministry.
Revisit our website to ensure its interactivity among our quest in an attempt to meet people where they are, rather than forcing them to come to us!
I am going to actually utilize my Facebook page.
I am going to organize myself as Joe Weaks taught to take care of myself.
Palette consideration - Uverse auditory option while cleaning house or going to sleep. Pray for Fuller and Central - how can they open coursework to challenge students.
I'm going to not be so fearful of technology.
I am going to use my Smartphone as a better tool to organize my schedule to keep up with what is happening in and with my church members.
More technology during contemporary worship service (i.e., pictures behind songs .
Update website.
In light of what I've learned today, I am going to … open myself up to a new and different way of communication; maybe open a facebook account; and explore and develop and express my God given gift of creativity.
Incorporate a new facebook account for the church with our website. Possibly a twitter account as well.
Google Reader - email rule
I'm going to share web information with evangelism team changing to more directly reflect what we really do as a congregation.
