2010 Alums of the Year: Rev. Marsha Perkins & Dr. Stanley Horton
This year's alumni/ae banquet was hosted by Holmeswood Baptist Church, where the next day's commencement ceremony was to be held. A business session was held at 6:00 p.m. simultaneously with a reception for the graduating seniors and other guests. The banquet began at 6:30.
Linda Milan, who has been serving as the Interim President of the Alumni/ae Association, conducted the business session. She was elected President for the 2010-1013 term. Debra Sermons encouraged the alums to consider the importance of their role in helping future ministers to choose Central for their seminary training. Dr. Paul Stevens reported on the progress toward the launching of a Doctor of Ministry in partnership with the Myanmar Institute of Theology. Alums were encouraged to contact Ms. Sermons, dsermons@cbts.edu or 913.667.5711, for more information on enrollment for that program when it is available.

During the banquet, with over 80 people in attendance, four 50-year alums were honored: Jack Wilson (who was actually a 56-year alum who had not previously been honored), Robert Molby, Stanley Horton (actually 51 years but was not in attendance the previous year), and Robert Molby.
Mary Ramavathu, whom the association has been sponsoring now for two years, expressed her gratitude for their support and talked about her ministry in India and how her time at Central has enriched that experience.
Alumna and Alumnus of the year, Rev. Marsha Perkins and Dr. Stanley Horton, respectively, were honored for their significant ministry contributions.
Rev. Keith Herron, Pastor of Holmeswood Baptist Church, was made an honorary alum. He has been a strong supporter of Central, and especially of women in ministry. Alum Kathy Pickett has served as Associate Pastor at Holmeswood for several years, and students Tammy Jackson Gill and Kate Hanch have served as ministry interns. Of course, the church also graciously hosted this event.
The evening culminated in the induction of the graduating seniors into the association and the traditional singing of the seminary hymn Be Thou My Vision.
