The seminary, in partnership with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Greater Kansas City, now offers Foundations, a one-year Certificate in Ministry program.

The Foundations program is designed to offer a broad and rapid introduction to the basics of ministry for:
- persons without a Bachelor's degree who desire to enhance their skills for vocational ministry
- interested lay persons wishing to improve preparations for service in volunteer dimensions of congregational ministries
The program consists of 10 Courses spread over 9 months (August-April). Each course lasts 8 hours and consists of readings and assignments. The cost is $500 for all 10 Courses. Topics covered include: Old Testament, New Testament, Pastoral Arts, Missional Church, Ministry Contextualization, Proclamation, Christian Heritage, Church Administration, Ministry Ethics, and Denominational Studies.
The first Foundations students, starting in August 2010, will meet at Overland Park Christian Church during the Fall 2010 term. Spring 2011 courses will meet on the seminary campus in Shawnee, KS. At the completion of all 10 courses, Foundations Certificates will be awarded during the seminary's May Graduation Ceremony.
* The Foundations course of study complies with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Greater Kansas City's educational requirements for the Licensed Ministry Program.
